Extremely rare German WW2U-boat Submarine Kill Flag U-99, 16.402 tons German WWII U-boat U-99 Kill Flag, 16.402 tons sunk. Measures 12” tall (plus the ties) by 16” wide. When the U-Boats returned to port, they'd fly their kill flag to show their successful mission and the top/bottom ends of the flag have roped eyelets (lanyards) so they could do just that, proudly fly it from the mast.Hand painted on white cotton. Machine sewn. Single sided. This is a fantastic piece of naval history. Low excellent condition. I founded 12 U-boat flags in box with WW2 Kriegsmarine stuff on estate sale. The flag passed very important test - it does not glow under the black lamp(all fabrics after 1945 glow under the black light).On the last image you can see U-boats with the same flags.
